Review patient accounts to determine the status of the account, making standard adjustments that require special analysis and prepare and perform adjustments on accounts as necessary for the maintenance and follow-up of all outstanding patient accounts. Perform work consisting of examination for accuracy, adequacy of documentation or citation, compliance with regulations, and justification of claims and other requests for payment for (1) services provided by the Government; (2) reimbursement of expenditures made by beneficiaries and non-beneficiaries for such purposes as medical care and treatment. Review delinquent patient account records, follow up with responsible parties via telephone and correspondence according to organization policy and procedures. Perform telephone contact with third party payers for amounts due. This function is performed on a timely basis, in accordance with hospital policy and procedures. Prepare and process demand letters for outstanding claims according to the Debt Management Policy Maintain all required documentation related to the debt management process. Maintain files system of patient accounts for follow-up with responsible parties on outstanding balances, make financial arrangement in accordance with organizational policy and procedures. Referral to Contact Representative for interview process for qualification for other third party resources. Maintain documents of all activity related/performed on patient accounts in patient financial folder and/or in patient account message in RPMS. Documentation will include dates, telephone numbers, name of person contacted with the status of payment. Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports utilizing the Accounts Receivable program Report any discrepancies to the supervisor, provide all supporting documents and recommend resolution. To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. For positions requiring positive education requirements, or if you are using education to meet all or part of the qualification requirements, you MUST submit a copy of your transcripts or an itemized list of college courses which includes equivalent information from the transcript (course title, semester/quarter hours, and grade/degree earned) in your resume. Qualifications:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
GS-05:
One (1) year of specialized experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. This experience is related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-04 level in the Federal service as described in the vacancy announcement. Examples include:
processing third party health plan transactions, compiling reports, coordinating collection for third party reimbursement, maintaining automated accounts receivable ledger, posting claim payments, monitoring claim payment rollover to secondary and tertiary billing, generate Aging summary reports, reviewing patients accounts OR Four (4) years of education above the high school level. OR A combination of specialized experience and education post high school with courses related to the occupation that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position. GS-06:
One (1) year of full-time specialized experience comparable in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. Examples include:
coordinating collection for third party reimbursement, maintaining automate accounts receivable ledger, posting claim payments, monitoring claim payment rollover to secondary and tertiary billing, generate Aging summary reports, reviewing patient accounts, resolving difficult reconciliations. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements:
Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
