Multiple Appointment Types Full Time The Indian Health Service (IHS) is the principal federal health care provider and health advocate for American Indians and Alaska Natives (AI/AN). The IHS goal is to raise Indian health status to the highest possible level. IHS provides leadership and direction to programs and activities designed to improve health outcomes to over 1.9 million AI/AN through a system of IHS, Tribal, and Urban operated facilities and programs.
The IHS is required by law to give absolute preference to qualified applicants who meet the Secretary of the Interior's definition of Indian for appointment to vacancies within the IHS in accordance with established IHS policy as outlined in the Indian Health Manual Part 7, Chapter 3. This position is located in the Business Office at the Claremore Indian Hospital, Claremore OK. The Voucher Examiner is responsible for the accounts receivable support functions through the follow-up process of all outstanding patient accounts within the Business Office. The position reports to Supervisory Health System Specialist.
The selected applicant will be subject to a pre-employment background investigation, which will include a fingerprint check. If applicable-Selective Service registration (Males born after 12/31/59) U.S. Citizenship is required
Reviews delinquent patient records for any outstanding balances and follows up with patient.
Prepares and processes a variety of documents relating to patients with outstanding balances.
Maintains a patient account file system.
Resolves difficult reconciliation discrepancies.
Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual reports. For GS-5: One year of specialized work experience (equivalent to at least GS-4 grade level in Federal service). Specialized experience is defined: Researching and analyzing accounting transactions and documents, Third-party billing programs, Accounts Receivable programs, Patient Registration Program Third-party reimbursement logic and Debt Management Policy. Experience with filing systems to locate, add, retrieve or correct routine information.

Four (4) years above high school.
Or
Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience.
For GS-6: One year of specialized work experience (equivalent to at least GS-5 grade level in Federal service). Specialized experience is defined: Researching and analyzing accounting transactions and documents, Third-party billing programs, Accounts Receivable programs, Patient Registration Program Third-party reimbursement logic and Debt Management Policy. Involvement with Third-party reimbursement logic, such as, Medicare policies, reimbursement policies, and billing Third-party resources. Experience with filing systems to locate, add, retrieve or correct routine information.
Time-In-Grade Requirements: MPP candidates must have completed at least one (1) year of service at the GS-5 for GS-6. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under ESEP.
Foreign Education: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program. MULTIPLE GRADE ANNOUNCEMENT: Announcement at the multiple grade interval is intended as a mechanism of providing consideration for the greatest number of potential candidates. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
